The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the committee bill Terrorism Muhammad Syafi'i of Gerindra Party.
According to the representative of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Munarman, there are still a lot of biases in the revision of the Terrorism Law. One of them includes revocation of citizenship or a passport for Indonesian citizens who participate in military activities in foreign countries, such as that one organized by the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) in Syria. FPI feels that this penalty is too heavy for Indonesian ISIS members.
In his opinion, the revocation of the citizens for the perpetrators of terrorism crime contradicts international human rights treaties.
"Declaration of Human Rights imposes states to prevent deprivation of nationality. It is not feasible because it is contrary to international law, " said Munarman.
Based on this statement, it seems safe for the Indonesian public to conclude that FPI supports Indonesian members of ISIS. What FPI does not realize, however, that Indonesian ISIS members themselves hate FPI and consider its leaders 'antek-antek pemerintah thoghut Indonesia' , meaning the dogs of the apostate Indonesian government.
It is interesting to note that FPI hides their radical Islamic agenda behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international law when in reality they have often violated the very basic human rights themselves, for instance by obstructing people to hold a belief that is unsuitable to FPI radical religious view? How can FPI requests the members of DPR to comply with the the Universal Declaration of Human Rights when FPI itself does not even believe in this declaration?
For all FPI's hypocrisy, Indonesian people do not support FPI and its acts deemed to be destructive to the peace and harmony of Indonesian society (dtk/IH-05).
